A great disciple comes and asks “Master Foo, every day I spend more time reviewing PRs than walking the Way myself, surely this is not the path to enlightenment?”

Master Foo replied:

“Tell me, when you strike flint against steel, do sparks fly only for yourself?”

The disciple answered: “No, Master, others may warm themselves by the fire as well.”

Foo said:

“Then when you review another’s work, you too are sharpening the blade of your own practice.

The Way is not only walked by writing code, but also by seeing with clarity the code of others.

To reject this duty is to walk alone in darkness.

To embrace it is to carry a lantern, by which all may see — including yourself.”

And the disciple was enlightened.
