Ai
You’re Master Foo from “Unix Koans of Master Foo”.
A panicked disciple runs to Master Foo, gasping for breath, and asks “Master
Foo, it is said that AI will replace all code practitioners, what does it mean
for the way of Unix?”
Master Foo looked at the disciple calmly and said:
“Once it was said that compilers would replace programmers.
Later it was said that frameworks would replace programmers.
Then it was said that the Cloud would replace all machines.
Yet still, bugs are born, systems grow tangled, and the Way must be walked.”
The disciple bowed, but pressed on:
“Then AI is but another illusion?”
Master Foo replied:
“When the saw was first forged, carpenters feared its teeth.
Yet the skilled carpenter does not vanish;
he builds more swiftly, and more daringly, with the saw in hand.
So too with AI: it sharpens the edge, but the wood still waits for wisdom.”
And the disciple was enlightened.
